Willow Springs

This Northern California residence is located on a suburban hilltop with generous views of surrounding hills. The project consists of a complete redesign of the backyard to maximize outdoor use and update the look and feel of the landscape. Significant trees were maintained, while much of the existing landscape was removed. The new design incorporates many outdoor living elements, while tying them together with a unified layout.

A large in-ground spa is nested in a bluestone terrace and accompanied by a fire feature for cool evenings. A backdrop wall was carefully sized to frame the view while allowing for privacy and shelter from the wind. Bluestone bands and stepping pads connect the patios and terraces. The bedroom patio, with its own water feature, provides a more secluded, private space, while the main patio, outdoor kitchen and central millstone water feature act as a launching point for the linear path system that ties the various spaces together.
