Via Aqua
For the 2010 San Francisco Garden Show HLA designed and built “Via Aqua” which presented a compact, modern take on a Japanese stroll garden. The exhibit incorporated stainless steel walkways over water that lead to a destination patio backed by an ancient olive tree. Four ceramic fish by artist Marilyn McKenzie, grace a backdrop wall. The sculptural, blue chaise lounges echo the aquatic theme in their form and color. The ground-faced block wall and perimeter low curbs form a container for six thousand gallons of water and fifteen Koi fish; an ambitious undertaking for a temporary installation.
