Institute of Noetic Sciences, 2005
The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) is located on 200 acres of rolling hills in Marin County. HTA incorporated tenets of ecological sustainability and regionalism in their design, which organized the sloping space into a sequence of terraces. Fly-ash concrete, lime plaster, poured earth walls and local aggregate and stone were used to reduce the environmental impacts of construction. Native plants and grasses provide a near seamless transition to the adjoining grasslands.
