This landscape renovation was coordinated concurrently with the extensive architectural remodel of the home. The intent was a complete transformation of the outdoor areas to create a dramatic and welcoming yard that both comforts the clients and impresses their guests, all while retaining as much of the existing structure as possible. Broad terraces of French limestone spill down to a grid of concrete pads set on a backdrop of synthetic lawn. The combination of materials provides for open circulation while keeping water use to a minimum, without making the space feel overly paved. A new glass-fronted spa and shallow sunning shelf bookend the extensively remodeled pool. A black basalt fire feature graces the far side. A round fire pit anchors a central gathering space, while in the far corner of the yard, nestled between the changing rooms, a former spa was converted into an upright water feature.
